Lowkey casual appreciation post

I was just talking with a friend the other day about how lolita has become a very OTT inclined fashion. Things that were considered casual in 2007 might be considered not even lolita at all by today standards, and the things that are tagged as casual today would be seen as full lolita coordinate back then.

I find that most lolita coords in social media lean to the more over the top style, with heavy accessorizing and perfect make up and hair. The impact of the elaborate dresses brands realease every once in a while might have slightly influenced this trend too, 

but I can't help but think this is more of an IG related situation...

Don't get me wrong, I use IG a lot and I really like to see the coords there and their beautiful styling, but sometimes I wonder if this whole perfect image that social media reflects can be detrimental to lolita fashion itself. I don't know how's the situation with getting new girls to follow the fashion in other countries, but where I live lolita is almost dead, there's almost no new girls getting into it and the few that want to feel like they can't, and it breaks my heart, I can't help but think if I where new to this and wanted to become a lolita it would look like such a hard task, when everything around looks so perfect and with so many elements to acquire, like  lots of rings, bracelets, elaborate blouses and dresses, the most fabulous wigs and lashes. And I know lolita is not like that all the time, but that's what gets popular in SNS, that's what gets the most likes, retweets and comments, because naturally, that's what is more eyecatching.

And I'm not saying we should stop wearing OTT lolita for the sake of other people, not at all. But it does make me feel like the fashion is becoming more of a high fashion for runways and photoshoots and a little less like that special thing we wear to make the world beautiful for an instant.

I'm definitely romanticizing lolita. But can you blame me for that? When everything about is so... I can't put it to words. I just really love lolita, everything about it, from the gorgeous over the top look to it's more equally beatiful casual self.

Estaba conversando con una amiga el otro día sobre cómo el lolita se ha vuelto una moda más inclinada al OTT. Las cosas que consideraríamos casuales en el 2007 podrían ser vistas como algo no lolita para los estándares actuales, y las cosas que son consideradas como casuales ahora serían coordinados lolita completos en ese tiempo.

Me parece que la mayoría de los coords lolita en redes sociales suelen inclinarse por estilos elaborados, con muchos accesorios y maquillaje y cabello perfectos. El impacto de los vestidos OTT que lanzan las marcas de vez en cuándo probablemente está relacionado con esta tendencia pero

No puedo evitar pensar que es más bien algo relacionado con instagram...

No me malentiendan, yo misma uso instagram muy seguido y me encantan los coords que veo ahí y su hermoso estilo, pero a veces me pregunto si esta imagen perfecta que las redes sociales reflejan del lolita pueden ser poco beneficiosas para la moda en sí. No sé cómo es la situación en otros países, pero donde yo vivo casi no hay lolitas nuevas, y las pocas que quieren meterse a este mundo muchas veces sienten que no pueden, y eso me hace muy triste, me imagino que si yo fuera nueva en esto y quisiera volverme lolita me parecería una cosa tan difícil, cuando a lo que estamos expuestas normalmente se ve perfecto y con tantos elementos que adquirir como anillos, pulseras, blusas elaboradas y vestidos llenos de detalles, las pelucas y pestañas más hermosas.  Y yo sé que el lolita no es siempre así, pero eso es lo que se hace popular en las redes, lo que tiene los más likes, retweets y comentarios, porque naturalmente es lo más llamativo.

Y no digo para nada que debemos dejar de usar lolita OTT por otras personas. Pero a veces siento que la moda se está volviendo más una especie de alta moda para pasarelas y sesiones de fotos y menos ese algo especial que usamos para hacer del mundo un lugar más bello por un pequeño instante.

Definitivamente estoy romantizando el lolita, pero ¿me pueden juzgar por ello? Cuando todo sobre él es tan... no lo puedo describir. Realmente amo el lolita, todo sobre ello, desde los looks más maravillosos y elaborados hasta su igualmente precioso casual yo.
